FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Seneca County CVB releases fall calendar

Discover the new fall activities and events planned for Seneca County by picking up this fall’s Seneca County Calendar of Events.

The Seneca County Convention & Visitors Bureau has released its fall calendar featuring new and exciting events and activities for September-December. The calendar is available by stopping by the Seneca County CVB, 114 S. Washington St., Tiffin, or by going online to www.senecacounty.com/visitor

Even though fall has just begun, the Seneca County CVB is planning ahead for the January-May 2008 Spring Calendar of Events.

“Because of the increase in requests for event information we would like to plan this spring’s Calendar of Events in advance,” said Malinda Ruble, executive director for the Seneca County CVB. “Anyone who is planning a public event should let us know as soon as they set a date. If there is a change in plans we can update accordingly, but by letting us know early, we will be better equipped to answer questions and to successfully promote Seneca County.”

Event planners wishing to have an event included in the Seneca County Spring Calendar of Events may submit the event information in writing to the Seneca County CVB at 114 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883 or email it to visitor@senecacounty.com by November 1st.

However, events must be open to the public in order to be included. Event information may be edited and space is limited.

For additional information or to receive a copy of the current calendar, contact the CVB at 419-447-5866 or 1-888-736-3221.

Christmas Holiday Weekend

Press Release: Immediate release

Contact: Seneca County Convention and Visitors Bureau

Crystal Traditions' Holiday Open House will be held in historic downtown Tiffin on Saturday, November 3 from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Sunday November 4 from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M.  The glass facility is located at 145 Madison Street, Tiffin, Ohio across from Calvert High School.

Artisans will be demonstrating ancient old art of glass making.  Eric Cromwell, nationally known gaffer, will be creating beautiful pieces of art glass.  Aidan Scully, Master Crystal Cutter and Designer, will be demonstrating the art of crystal hand cutting.  Guests can browse through the showroom and outlet.  Both are filled with great holiday gifts.  A mercury Christmas ornament will be given for purchases of $50.00 or more during the holiday weekend.  Refreshments will be served.

The 2007 Limited Edition ornament will be available.  In 1977, the Tiffin Glass Factory initiated production of a limited edition Christmas ornament.  Crystal Traditions is proud to continue to create an ornament made entirely in Tiffin, Ohio.  The ornament is hand blown by Eric Cromwell and hand cut by Aidan Scully.  Each ornament exhibits its' own unique qualities and is in itself a work of art.  This year's special design is a snowflake issued in a single limited edition, signed and numbered.

Michel Dammron from Farafina Art Imports will be back as the special guest.  Michel was born in Paris, France and spent his early years there and in Casablanca, Morocco.  In 1962 he began his artistic career as a painter in West Berlin and exhibited in Palermo, Brussels, Amsterdam, Athens, Beirut, Rome, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Geneva and Madrid.  He now lives in the United States and makes four to six trips abroad each year.  Michel offers Russian art to the people in United States.  He will have glass animal sculptures, nesting dolls, hand-painted lacquer boxes, Russian hand-carved Santas and amber jewelry on display and for sale.

The same weekend  other events are held to usher in the holiday season.  The Tiffin Glass Collectors Club will host their Fall Glass and Antique Show and Sale at the Seneca County School of Opportunity, 280 E. Co. Rd. 20, Tiffin, Ohio.  Local and area dealers will be in attendance.  The glassware that was produced at the Tiffin Factory from 1892 to 1980 will be offered for sale along with other fine quality glassware and antiques.  The show and sale hours are Saturday November 3, 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. and Sunday, November 4, 11 A.M. to 4 P.M.  The $3.00 admission is good for both days.  The show and sale is located in a handicapped accessible facility with free parking.  Visitors are also encouraged to visit Tiffin Glass Museum, 25 South Washington Street in downtown Tiffin, where over a thousand pieces of glassware and memorabilia from the old factory are on display.  The adjacent Museum Shoppe offers Tiffin Glass and other fine glassware and collectibles for sale.

Come and enjoy the hospitality of Tiffin, where shops and attractions offer a special experience, slower pace with individual attention to visitors.  Cheerful friendly assistance is offered in a relaxed easy to access location.  We are not "Big Box" retailers, we are small-town originals.
