The Seneca
County Park District was created in 1996 with the goal of
establishing and preserving natural areas, rural areas, historical
areas, and cultural areas for the citizens of Seneca County.
The district is administered by three commissioners appointed by
the probate judge of the county, and managed by a park director.
Currently the Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, Forrest Nature
Preserve, and Steyer Nature Preserve are open to the public, and a
fourth area near West Lodi will be developed in the future.

FUNDING
Seneca County
Park District programs
and facilities are available year-round to the public for free.
Conservation and Wildlife Areas
The Seneca County Park District
maintains natural areas for the protection of land and the
wildlife that resides within these lands. These natural areas will
be some of the Seneca County Park Districts most scenic
properties.
In order to maintain the delicate and often rare habitats and
wildlife within these areas, visitation may be limited to
non-consumptive use. We will work with local and state
professionals to ensure that these areas are preserved. Such areas
of habitat and wildlife are vital for the study of our culture and
history.

To preserve,
protect and promote diversity of our natural resources; to
educate and develop an appreciation of the unique natural,
rural, historical and cultural aspects of Seneca County. |
